Follow-On to “China Clean Technology – Business Development Mission” from April 2015 

Expand Your Business Opportunity in China!

About the Mission

This trade mission from June 6- June 12th will be a follow-on Trade Mission by the private sector to the April, 2015 Trade Mission led by the U.S. Department of  Energy and U.S. Department of Commerce (designated as official Presidential Trade Mission), which focused on assisting in identifying potential partners and strategies for U.S. companies in target clean energy sectors.  The companies involved have identified specific smart city/clean energy projects that have great potential for U.S. involvement and will be leading visits to those project sites located in Chengdu (Sichuan Province) and  participating in the 2nd Annual U.S./China Climate Leaders Summit in Beijing featuring top leaders from the U.S. and China (Last year’s event featured keynotes from Vice President Joe Biden).  Don’t miss this unique opportunity!

Mission Goals

This trade mission will continue to build on U.S. commitment to sustaining economic partnerships in China and supporting the business development goals of U.S. firms by exploring potential collaboration and demonstration projects, and to create a foundation for future business in China for U.S. companies.

November 12th, 2014 ( San Francisco) – Member/VIP Event at Port of San Francisco

San Francisco (CA) – California Center recently held its Member/VIP event for the month of November at the Port of San Francisco on Wednesday the 12th, 2014. Jim Maloney, the Maritime Marketing Manager of the Port of San Francisco, delivered the opening remarks and talked about the Port’s coming new terminal and its proud partnership with the California Center.

The event also highlighted two existing California Center members, both of whom delivered engaging presentations. Dr. Sharon Shoemaker, Executive Director of the California Institute of Food and Agricultural Research (CIFAR), UC Davis; discussed food safety, with a focus on the impacts of the current processes and food chains in China.  Also, Brian Jacks, a seasoned real estate professional and CEO of Jacks Commercial Real Estate, shared information about opportunities for Chinese investment in California. Jacks highlighted some of his current property listings, which included a winery in the Lodi area as well as a number of properties in the greater Sacramento area.

During the event, Marc Gerome, a Sales and Marketing Representative from Seka Hills, exhibited his high quality wines, olive oil and honey products and provided samples to the attendees.

In addition, Gordon Hinkle (VP) and Desmond Fang (Director) of the California Center, provided insightful updates on its new E-commerce platforms, upcoming events and also gave a special APEC report to provide valuable information to the attendees on recent news and policies in China.

October 1st, 2014 ( San Francisco) – Member/VIP Event: Food & Wine and Chinese Business Relationships

The California Center successfully held its second Member/VIP Event on October 1st, 2014. The event provided a great opportunity for the attendees to network with each other. Also, two special guests, Mr. Eric T. Ashdown and Mr. Bruce Riezenman, delivered interesting speeches. Mr. Ashdown, the Managing Partner of NorCal Asia Partners, shared his experience on developing and managing business relationships in China.  He has spent a lifetime related to China and Asia and has lived in Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore over the past 20 years. He was previously a security consultant for ICBC, China’s largest bank, and was the Chief Security Officer for Microsoft in Asia and was also a Partner with Ernst & Young’s Security Division in China. After Mr Ashdown’s speech, Mr. Riezenman discussed pairing California wine with Chinese cuisine, which aroused a lot interest among the attendees.  He is one of Northern California’s most sought-after chefs and a foremost speaker on the subject of food and wine pairing. Bruce is a restaurateur, an entrepreneur and the author of Pairit!, the highly acclaimed Food & Wine pairing app for iPhones and Android phones.

September 19th, 2014 (San Francisco) – Network Reception

The California Center hosted a panel called “International Trade – Skills for Success in Multinational Business” and a special network evening reception at the 3rd Annual California Asian Business Summit.

September 4th, 2014 ( Los Angeles) –  LA Luncheon

The California Center’s luncheon event in LA was successfully launched in LA Area Chamber of Commerce.  Among the many companies and organizations that attended this event include East West Bank, UCLA, California Bank and Trust, Kintetsu International Express, Megaworld International, HKTDC, The Maratom Group, Wilders’ Inc, LA Area Chamber of Commerce and so on.

September 3rd, 2014 ( San Francisco) –  Inaugural Member VIP Event

The California Center’s inaugural member VIP event was successfully held at the Millennium Tower in San Francisco. There were more than 50 guests from different business fields who joined this event. During the event, Margaret Wong and Edward Zhu, co-founders of the California Center, gave speeches about what the California Center is currently doing to service all of its members. The Port of San Francisco and Food and Beverage World, both founding members of the California Center, spoke to the community about their business initiatives and their experiences with the California Center. The event was a success and received positive feedback from the attendees.  In addition, we would like to thank Arthur Walsh and Jeff Seffen for donating wine to the event.

September 3rd, 2014 ( Fresno) – Fresno Luncheon

The California Center’s Fresno Luncheon was successfully launched in the Fort Washington Country Club.  We thank California Bank and Trust for hosting this event.  Among the many companies and organizations that attended this event include Office of Assemblyman Jim Patterson, California Bank and Trust, Fresno MBDA, PR Farms, Sun-Maid, American Pistachio Growers ,Meridian Nut Growers and so no. During the event, Office of Assemblyman Jim Patterson awarded California Center for its efforts to help California businesses export to China.

California Center Special Reception at Petaluma Creamery,  a member of California Center.
